Usually Somewhere With the Animals: Behind N&K Photo
Hi, I'm Rachel!
I have been passionate about photography and animals since I was very little. I began taking photographs around the age of eight and later studied photography in art school, where I learned the artistic and technical foundations of the craft. About 11 years ago, I started volunteering at local animal shelters and found a way to combine my two passions by photographing animals to help them get adopted.
Through my years in animal welfare, I have learned that every animal has a unique personality, comfort level, and story. Those experiences working with each animal have shaped the way I photograph today. Rather than focusing on traditional poses, I love creating natural images that allow each animal to be themselves.
Over the years, my photography has been used in marketing campaigns for local animal-welfare organizations. I have also received photography awards, worked with local businesses on digital marketing campaigns, and exhibited my work in Cleveland.
Whether I'm photographing a beloved pet, a dog doing what it loves in a sports competition, or an animal waiting for a home at a shelter, my goal is always the same: to create meaningful images that capture who that animal truly is.
